World Hand Cleaning Day
On the occasion of the World Hand Hygiene Day (the Global HandWashing Day), which is celebrated on May 5, the WHO, the world health organization recalls that washing hands is not only a daily hygiene gesture but also an important tool to prevent the spread of infections and fight antibiotic resistance, one of the most serious threats to global health.
New UNICEF data shows that 1,400 children under the age of five die every day from diarrheal diseases due to a lack of clean water and basic sanitation. According to UNICEF, diarrhea is still the second leading cause of infant mortality under five years of age worldwide.
With 1.7 billion cases and 600,000 deaths annually, diarrheal diseases are also associated with a greater risk of stunting, with severe social and economic damage. The best and least expensive measure to protect yourself from infection is hand washing with soap.
